Shawn Ongers returns to racing... Wes Richards upgrades to Cat 2
Enumclaw, WA - Shawn Onger finally has returned to the peleton at the Mutal of Enumclaw Stage Race after a long recovery from a serious crash in April where he broke 6 vertebrae and 4 ribs.
It was great to see the appearance of Shawn at the Time Trial where he respectively placed 20th amongst some very stiff competition from the Canadian teams. Mike Hone was 24th only a couple seconds off Shawn's place. So it looks as if Shawn has fully recovered. Wes Richards and Ryan Iddings also road good times in the Time Trial and it was great to finally have Wes in the Cat 2 field.
In the criterium, the pace was fast and furious. The average speed for the night was roughly 29mph. The Lenovo team tried their best to stay at the front with Mike Hone finishing 19th in the crit. With 2 laps to go, Hone and Kenny Williams made a small break but were reeled in before the last lap.
In the road roace, 5 laps up Mud Mountain both Ongers and Richards were able to stay in the lead group. All in all, it was great to have Ongers back racing again and now we can refocus our 1/2 squad to be ready to go and race Withrop and Banff Stage races.
