Time for the Beast... The Maratona Gran Fondo
The day was upon us that we all have been waiting for. To summit 7 passes and do nearly 15,000ft of climbing. We had pre ridden the course on a few of the climbs so we knew a little of what to expect. With 9,000 riders it was a slow start for those back at end of the start. A few guys were lucky to stage up front as they paid a little more to get a better place :) The day was amazing and also very challenging but all the guys finished with respectable times and no one crashed...

Next stop LaVilla in the Dolomites
After two big days in Bormio, it was time to venture over to the other side of the mountains to Badia area where the Maratona Gran Fondo was being held. Upon arrival to our amazing place in LaVilla, we also were very lucky to get a custom kit made up for the special week from the Castelli Italy folks. The Neon Blue kit really stands out. Venturing up Gavia Pass with Tired Legs
After riding 11,000 feet on the Stelvio Pass, I wanted the guys to see another famous pass that is used in the Giro d'Italia... this time it was Gavia Pass from the Bormio side. Our legs were tired from the day before, but no one really wanted to do a short ride.

We finally made it, this trip has been on the plans for nearly a year. 10 Audi riders ventured to northern Italy to ride the Dolomites and participate in the Maratona Gran Fondo. We flew from Seattle to Zurich via Iceland. Picked up our two vans. One to carry the bikes and one to carry the rest of us. We ventured 5 hours by car to the beautiful Stelvio Pass.
