After two big days in Bormio, it was time to venture over to the other side of the mountains to Badia area where the Maratona Gran Fondo was being held. Upon arrival to our amazing place in LaVilla, we also were very lucky to get a custom kit made up for the special week from the Castelli Italy folks. The Neon Blue kit really stands out.
We did three days of riding in Badia area. Day three was around the Sella Ronde. Another set of famous climbs. I had ridden this in previous years at the 2012 Giro, so I was familiar. Though it still kicked my ass. We were all very fortunate as well as we game home every night to a cook we hired and a massage in our homes too from the local salon.
Day four some of us decided to jump in the cars, others road over to Cortina d'Impezza. There we had a nice relaxing ride around a mountain... with only 3000ft gain. Enough to chill our legs out for a while.
Day five consisted of an easy ride down the valley for a coffee and beer and to get ready for the Maratona Gran Fondo the next day.
